So begins another week. Here are a few things that are getting me excited.
1. More than baking, making or blogging, I absolutely love lists. There is nothing better than the sense of gratification you get from putting a strike through the neatly formed rows of print. So I'm looking forward to putting pen to my new Navajo Notebook. And I wont have and guilty feelings about the pages and pages of 'to-do's' as it's 100% recycled.
2. Spitalfields Life is a personal favourite for me. I always fancied a bit of east London and The Gentle Author's elegant and captivating narrative has definitely pushed me over the edge. That she has just published 448 pages of stories with beautiful illustrations from Lucinda Rogers, Rob Ryan and Mark Hearld makes me quite giddy. If that doesn't do it for you, the book has been designed by David Pearson (in my opinion, one of the most important designers/typographers around today). Make sure you get your copy here.
3. I heard The Cornshed Sisters for the first time about a month ago on the Marc Riley show. They are a mix of folky pop interspersed with ukuleles and a cappella. Beautifully understated. I'm looking forward to the album, Tell Tales, which is out on 9 April.
4. Finally booked tickets to see Big and Small (Gross und Klein) at the Barbican next month. I'm never disappointed by anything I see at the Barbican and am sure this wont be any different. On screen, I find Cate Blanchett extremely watchable and am looking forward to seeing her on stage. For those of you who have a spare £125, check out Einstein on the Beach...I wish I could.
